Zufall Health Recognizes Dedicated Volunteers
Somerville, N.J. (May 23, 2016) More than 100 volunteers who give their time, talents, and energy to Zufall Health were honored recently at a Volunteer Appreciation event at the Bridgewater Marriott Hotel. The volunteers provide a wide range of supportive services at the nonprofit community health center which offers affordable medical and dental care to patients in six New Jersey counties.
“We wouldn’t exist today if it weren’t for the volunteers who joined Dr. Bob Zufall and his wife Kay when they founded our health center 26 years ago,” said Eva Turbiner, Zufall’s president and chief executive officer. “Volunteer support is as valuable today as it was then and we are deeply grateful to all of the dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly to further the Zufall Health mission.”
The event, underwritten by Fulton Bank of New Jersey and Saker ShopRites paid special tribute to 2016 Volunteer Honoree Dr. Richard Watson, who has been on Zufall’s Dover medical staff for 15 years.
“It has been my pleasure to be part of the Zufall Health family and be part of an organization that helps thousands of patients with much-needed services and programs,” said Dr. Watson.
Other volunteers acknowledged at the event included:
- Zufall’s AmeriCorps team members who lead Outreach projects and support medical administration and development activities
- The Good As New shop managers: Phyllis Kumpf, Kathy Grilli, Donna Hollmann, Monica Smith, Linda Lucarelli, Diane Pearly, and Corene Noack and their team of volunteer sales assistants who work shifts at the organization’s unique boutique located at 136 East Main Street in Somerville.
- The team of 24/7 Sexual Assault Advocates who over one year collectively donated more than 6,000 hours to advocate on behalf of victims and their loved ones.
Additional donors supporting the event were Fiorilli Design of Warren, Melange Boutique of Somerville; and Curves of Greenbrook.
