Zufall Announces Winner of Colon Cancer Screening Challenge 2017

Congratulations to Altagracia Jimenez, the winner of the Zufall Health Colon Cancer Challenge. The lucky Dover resident was awarded $500 in ShopRite gift cards. Her name, along with all patients who were up-to-date on their colon cancer screenings by the end of 2017, were automatically entered into a free drawing.

“I’m really happy I had my screening and could win this prize”, said Ms Jimenez, who already has generous plans for some of her winnings. “First, I’m going to buy juice boxes for the children at my church and then I’m looking forward to sharing the prize to help my daughter.”

Zufall launched the Challenge to promote the importance of colon cancer screening as a critical tool in preventing deaths from treatable cancer. “There are easy tests that can be done annually at Zufall for no extra charge,” explained Dr. Rina Ramirez, Zufall’s Chief Medical Officer. “It is our goal to help our patients reach the national goal of getting at least 80 percent of eligible patients screened by the end of 2018. “

With National Colon Cancer Awareness Month being observed in March, Zufall will continue its focus on cancer prevention with activities to encourage everyone over 50 years of age to be screened. “Talk to your doctor about which important cancer test is best for you,” said Dr. Ramirez. “It could save your life.”
