Zufall Health Chief Medical Officer Rina Ramirez, MD, Appointed to National Board of Directors

Zufall Health Chief Medical Officer Rina Ramirez, MD, has been appointed to the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) Board of Directors as a Region 2 Representative, effective October 1, 2024.

NACHC is the leading advocacy organization representing the nation’s network of more than 1400 community health centers, which collectively care for 32.5 million patients. Community health centers look to NACHC for guidance on critical issues impacting patient care and policy.

While new to its Board, Ramirez has already made a significant contribution as a NACHC member for nearly two decades. Since joining in 2007, she has shared her expertise in patient-centered, trauma-informed care across various NACHC committees, task forces, and publications.

Ramirez currently serves as Chair of NACHC’s Health Care for the Homeless Committee and is a member of both the Clinical Practice Committee and the Service Integration for Behavioral Health and HIV Committee. She is also a subject matter expert for the Million Hearts initiative, which focuses on improving cardiovascular health outcomes. Additionally, she participated in an expert advisory panel addressing racial and identity-based disparities in opioid prescribing and was a key contributor to NACHC’s 2024 quality improvement package for adolescent sexual and reproductive health.

In 2018, Ramirez received the Samuel U. Rodgers, MD Achievement Award, presented to a “distinguished primary care clinician who exemplifies excellence in clinical practice and leadership at the local, state, or national level.”

“As a longtime contributor to NACHC and its mission, I am deeply honored to represent the Region 2 community health centers and the patients we serve,” said Dr. Ramirez. “My experience at Zufall has given me valuable insights into the barriers our patients face across the full spectrum of primary care. It is a privilege to leverage this knowledge in collaboration with my colleagues at NACHC.”

Zufall President and CEO, Fran Palm, expressed pride, adding, “Dr. Ramirez’s dedication to improving the health of underserved communities is evident in everything she does at Zufall. Her appointment to the NACHC Board reflects her deep commitment to advancing health equity and ensuring that all patients, regardless of background, receive high-quality care. We are thrilled to have her representing Zufall and are confident she will continue to make outstanding contributions to NACHC in this leadership role.”

Ramirez’s NACHC Board service will run through September 2026. Learn more about NACHC and its Board of Directors here.
