Art Exhibition Receptions Return to Zufall’s Dover Health Center

This month, Zufall Health’s Dover headquarters welcomed to its walls new works of art by local creatives. The group exhibition, “Movement,” curated by Zufall Communications Coordinator Amanda Barron, is the health center’s first since early 2020. The more than 60 original works include representational and abstract drawings, paintings, collage, and photography.

Participating artists, art enthusiasts, and Zufall supporters gathered at the opening reception on Friday, September 16. An acoustic guitar performance by Morris County guitarist Connor Strapp created a peaceful mood while guests enjoyed the art and light refreshments.

For many artists, the evening was a celebration of the long-awaited return to sharing their talents at in-person events. Many artists and attendees expressed that Zufall’s art exhibitions are an important part of the community.

“The pandemic has been so difficult and depressing, but I’m thrilled to be able to show my work to fellow creatives again,” said one of the exhibiting artists.

“Movement” is part of Zufall’s ongoing Arts in Health program. Arts in Health was initiated in 2013 to provide an opportunity for artists to showcase their creative talents and cultural diversity on the walls of the reception and clinical areas of the health center. The art helps reduce the anxiety of patients who are not comfortable in a medical setting and provides cultural enrichment to patients who typically may not have access to visual art experiences.

The exhibit is also part of a broader cultural event presented throughout the year by the Arts & Culture Collaborative of Morris County. Member organizations are featuring exhibits, performances, and other creative endeavors around the theme of “Dance Connections.”

“Movement” will be on display until January 13, 2023. Future calls for artists will be posted to Zufall’s website and social media channels. If you are interested in joining Zufall’s artist mailing list, contact Amanda Barron at abarron@zufallhealth.org.
