Zufall Health named a National Quality Leader

Dover, NJ – Zufall Health, a community health center operating seven sites in northern and central New Jersey, has been recognized as a National Quality Leader by the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The nonprofit organization is one of only 57 health centers in the country and the only center in the state that was granted this designation.

“We’re  proud to be part of this select group receiving recognition for our proven track record in clinical quality improvement,” said Eva Turbiner, Zufall president and chief executive officer. “It acknowledges our commitment and the diligence of  Chief Medical Officer Dr. Rina Ramirez and our staff to bring the highest quality primary care services to our patients.”

To commemorate the announcement,  Senator Robert Menendez presented Zufall with a proclamation commending its achievements.

“Zufall has served the community with distinction,” said Menendez. “Community health centers are the cornerstone of our health care system. They provide care to those who might not otherwise receive it, keeping our families and neighbors healthy, and provide enrollment assistance for affordable health insurance through the new health insurance marketplace.”

“By investing in community health centers and rewarding excellence among them, centers like Zufall deliver results-increased access to care, expansion of health care jobs, and improved health.”

As a National Leader, Zufall has exceeded national clinical benchmarks in preventive care, adult and child/adolescent weight screening, childhood immunizations, and cervical and colorectal cancer screening. The award also includes funding through the Affordable Care Act for Zufall to expand and improve its systems and infrastructure to support ongoing quality improvement activities.

Zufall Health is an award-winning, independent, not-for-profit, state-licensed community health center that has been providing high-quality, affordable medical and dental treatment to the working poor, uninsured, and underserved for 25 years. More than 26,000 patients are served at its headquarters site in Dover and medical and/or dental offices in Morristown, Hackettstown, Flemington, Somerville, West Orange, as well as on its Highlands Health Van and at its Morristown Wellness Center.
